Hungarian Air Force Firefighter M50
Share
What a title! Not only is this Hungarian M50 the elusive Firefighter variant, but also present is the Hungarian Air Force decal dated to the 1990-1991 transitional period.
Unfortunately, I am not fluent in Hungarian, although I believe this to be a manufacturer's mark or a passing of manufacturing stamp.
Typically, the M50 in the Firefighter variant is painted in a chrome color. That is the only form I have seen this helmet in, using sources such as:

Hungarian collector: http://demeterwebmilitaria.oldalunk.hu/site.php?sd=demeterwebmilitaria&page=Z5aUHTRCiJ
As such, due to being so elusive, I unfortunately could not find any reference photos, both for the standard chrome finish but also for this Air Force example.
There is a small chip in the paint, in which it reveals the original matte steel metal color. It appears this helmet color is original and was not painted over either a chrome or the typical green of the Army M50.
The Hungarian Air Force only used this decal from 1990-1991, which seems incredibly late for an M50 helmet, although since this was intended for Firefighters, it seems more likely.
Reference material from the fellow Hungarian collector's site,
This was a fun one to write. If a Hungarian speaker is reading this, some insight into the stamp or manufacturer stamp would be helpful, or if anyone has any reference photos.
